Yellow Taxi Productions acclaimed, sold out production of The Pact will return to New Hampshire this summer. Join for us for two performances only Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24 at the Capitol Center for the Arts on Main Street in Concord. Written by Jeannette Angell based on the Jodi Picoult novel The Pact: A Love Story, YTP's April production completely sold out. When a teenaged girl is shot by the boy next door in a small New Hampshire town, the entire community tries to make sense of the murder. Yellow Taxi's production of The Pact follows the boyfriend's murder trial as family secrets are revealed and the boy's defense of a suicide pact gone wrong unravels. Both John Decareau of Manchester, NH who played Chris and Corinne Proctor of Arlington, MA who played Emily the high school sweethearts who come to a tragic end will return for this limited Concord engagment. The Nashua Telegraph wrote of their performances in April, "Proctor, as Emily, and Decareau, as Chris, nail the roles of star-crossed lovers in this tale of 'Romeo and Juliet' reversed."
Jeanette Angell is a novelist and playwright who lives on the Cape in MA. Her books include historical novels, (Legende, Wings and Flight) and contemporary fiction (The Illusionist). She is a member of the Author's Guild, The Dramatists' Guild and the National Writer's Union. She was a Booksense Book-of-the-Year finalist in 2004 and Writer in Residence at Artropolis in 2008. YTP commissioned Ms. Angell to tackle the adaptation of The Pact for the stage based on her work in both genres.
The production is directed by Yellow Taxi Artistic Director Suzanne Delle and features many local and Boston-area actors including: Gail Angellis, Maria Barry, Susan Berkowitz, Barbara Bourgeois, Gina Carballo, Tajoura Davis, Andrea Defeo, Becki Dennis, Larry Pizza, Steve Triebes and David White. The designers include Matt Whiton (Scenic), Craig Brennan (Lights), Nat Ward (Sound) and Allison Szklarz (Costumes).
The Pact's original run was April 11 through April 25. Tickets for the Concord performances are $20 and available at the Capitol Center box office. See a clip of the show on our Facebook page.

Using the popular children’s book, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, this class will explore basic improvisation techniques based on characters and situations provided in the story. Bring your imagination and discover theatre storytelling without a script.

This two week camp is designed to be a fun and safe environment for young actresses to learn more about the world of theatre. Theatre games, scene work, and acting training will be taught with a focus on female playwrights and characters.
Acting for Everybody

Young actors will learn the answer to the essential question, “What’s my motivation?” Using scenes students will discover the fundamental building blocks of any school of acting, what their characters want and how they are going to get it.
Musical Theatre Workshop

1 Week Only August 10-14
This one week camp is geared for teens interested in musical theatre. Students will learn about both the performance and historical perspectives of the American musical. The unique challenges and techniques of acting while singing on stage will be worked on with some opportunities for performance.
Instructors:
Suzanne Delle is the Artistic Director of Yellow Taxi Productions. She has a MFA in Directing and teaches acting and directing at UMass Lowell. She has taught the Shakespeare camps for Yellow Taxi Productions since 2005.
Jamie Feinberg is a professional musical director, accompanist, and arts instructor whose work has been seen all over NH and MA and across the country. She has led camps and classes for ages 3-14 for Yellow Taxi, The Acting Loft, Musicalarts, and various early childhood programs, and is a voice and piano instructor
Emily Maloney is a 2008 graduate of UMass Lowell with degrees in English and Theatre and worked as an assistant in last summer’s camps.
George Kendall is the head of the drama program at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School.

Lunch Box Series Continues This Summer |

YTP's free lunch time lecture series returns July 28th for a new season of lectures and performances designed to educate our community about different aspects of theatre. We're at a new venue and on a new day but the fun remains the same! All Lunch Box lectures are forty minutes starting at 12:10pm are now at theNashua Public Library's downstairs theatre space one Tuesday a month. Sponsored by NH State Council on the Arts.
July 28: How Scenic Design Tells the Story led by Kathryn Kawecki the set designer of YTP's Burn This. Other designs include: The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Emerson Stage at the Majestic); The Random Caruso (CentaStage, BCA); Largo Desolato (A.R.T./MXAT Institute, Cambridge); Anna in the Tropics (Capital Rep, Albany); No Child… and Bad Dates (Hangar Theatre); Men of Tortuga (currently running), House of Yes and The Thugs (Apollinaire Theatre); Topdog/Underdog (Sacramento Theatre Company); La Traviata (Emerald City Opera); Oklahoma! August 25: Singing About History led by Jamie Feinberg who will explore how American Musical Theatre has dealt with historical subjects. Shows reflect the time period they are written in: an example being Oklahoma during WWII. Musicals such as West Side Story, Pacific Overtures, Hair, and Shenandoah will be discussed. Jamie Feinberg has worked as a director, musical director, choreographer and accompanist for a variety of both professional (Equity and non-Equity) and amateur productions. After graduating with honors from Smith College, she worked in over twenty states before returning home to NH. She is currently a voice and piano instructor, church accompanist, pre-K and K music instructor, and theater professional in NH and MA.
